Youth Director

Joe Bointy

Joe Bointy became FBC Carnegie's Youth Director in 2010, but his ties with the church date some 25 years. He began attending the church in the late 1990s when his daughter, Kelsey, was baptized. The family has been here ever since.

In addition to the well-attended weekly services, Joe leads Carnegie's youth to Falls Creek and Super Summer every year, and he is involved on a state level in Baptist youth ministry leadership.

Joe came to Christ at FBC Carnegie after several months in a Sunday School class taught by Victor Wood (now executive pastor Choctaw Road Baptist Church). He was working in manufacturing and retail when he joined the church staff as maintenance director in 2000. That began a trek towards his current position.

Joe began a ministry called Play and Pray that attracted junior high and high school boys for basketball and a devotion. Later, a separate time was added for girls. That ministry blossomed into a 3-on-3 tournament that drew guest speakers and more than 100 attendees. The late Sam Hayworth then recruited Joe to teach in the Royal Ambassadors and to be a youth sponsor. He moved to teaching seventh grade boys under another long-time teacher, the late Red Davis.

Joe's family includes his wife, Cybil, daughter and son-in-law Kelsey and Kyle Autaubo, grandaughters Karsyn and Tynsley Autaubo, grandsons Kyesyn and Jacobi Autaubo, son Keelan and fiance' Jahlyssa Hunter, son Levi and another son, the late Warren Kane Bointy.

Joe is a member of the Carnegie Fire Department. His hobbies include riding motorcycles, playing guitar, golf, hiking, running and spending time with his family. He has fostered a robust youth ministry in Carnegie and our church is blessed to have him on our staff.

Chaz Hurt has led the church’s music since 2021. He leads the music worship on Sunday mornings, organizes the music team and coordinates song selection. In addition, he teaches one of the adult Sunday school classes.

Born and raised in Carnegie, Chaz grew up in FBC Carnegie and was saved at the age of 8. He has been serving the Lord in many capacities for several years. While a high school student, he helped reestablish the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Huddle at Carnegie HS, and served as president in his senior year.  Prior to taking on his current role at the church, he had led music worship in the youth services and in the Carnegie cabin at Falls Creek.

Chaz graduated with a doctorate degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2019. While in pharmacy school, he led a weekly Bible study. He also served as president for the Fellowship of Christian Pharmacists for the majority of his three years in graduate school. In 2017, he led worship at the FCP national convention in Colorado Springs.

Chaz, a pharmacist at Liberty Drug in Carnegie, and his wife Kalley, have one son, Everett.  A Bible verse that Chaz cites as inspirational for him is Romans 11:36 (NLT): “For everything comes from Him, exists by His power, and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.”
